Dogwood Trading Company

Dogwood Trading Company provides a fun and relaxing shopping experience with unique products that bring a smile. Our product mix includes the largest selection of Vera Bradley and Alex and Ani in Livingston County, along with a wide variety of puzzles, games, children’s books, crafts, and toys. An old-fashioned gift store, we have an unusual collection of candles, mugs, kitchen items, gifts for cat lovers, dog lovers, horse lovers, and so much more. We keep expanding our Made in the USA and locally made product lines. It’s fun to come browse and find the “perfect” gift for someone you love. Or, treat yourself to something special!

Running independent businesses and revitalizing historic buildings is something my husband and I are passionate about. In 1993 we bought Dansville Stationers, which was originally established in 1976 as an office / art supply store. We expanded the gift department to include Yankee Candles and Vera Bradley. With the name “Dansville Stationers” many customers perceived us as “just a card shop”. As the business grew, we purchased the historic building next door, joined the buildings with a brick archway and added the name Dogwood Trading Company.

Dogwood Trading Company and Dansville Stationers have been consolidated into our 176 Main Street building. Our back entrance has moved to the 176 Main Street location with a ramp and off street parking.

As a small independent retailer, we are committed to the process of reinventing ourselves. Looking to the future, Alex and Ani and other “Made in the USA” products are an important part of our vision.  Local foods and local products are taking more shelf space. Our Vera Bradley selection continues to be the biggest between Corning and Buffalo. We will continue to offer a unique collection of kids books, toys and gifts for all ages.  We are downsizing our office supply selection, however, we will continue to carry hard to find stationery items, ledger books and office products.

Dogwood Trading Company is proud to announce an exciting collaboration with Dansville ArtWorks. This new gallery utilizes our 178 Main Street location where they sell local artwork, art supplies and provide classes. It has always been our dream to have a creative learning space available for our community, and we are certain that this alliance will bring some diversity and energy to the shops on Main Street.

Our customers have a voice in our future.  Choosing to shop locally when you can circulates more dollars in the community, than those spent at a big box store.  Please plan to visit us soon and meet our new neighbors.

As office supply purchases move to online purchasing we are focusing our store on experiences you can’t get online.  If you have had a hard week, a little quiet time shopping can help. Nothing replaces browsing around with a friend, laughing over a silly mug, or finding something totally unexpected. Afterward, go out for lunch and discover one of the many great places to eat in Dansville. Thank you for shopping locally.
